# Draw basic shapes

### Drawing shapes without masters <a href="#drawing-shapes-without-masters" id="drawing-shapes-without-masters"></a>

The best way to use Visio is to "Drop Masters" with the `New-VisioShape` cmdlet. However, in some cases in may be more convenient to draw simple shapes without using masters.
